A sofa is part of our daily life: it is therefore important to keep it clean! Whether it is a bed, a convertible sofa or even fabric cushions, find out how to regularly clean your sofa with products you can find at home.
Maintaining a fabric sofa
To regularly maintain the fabric sofa, simply vacuum the entire surface of the sofa using the brush attachment or the hose. The sofa will therefore be perfectly dusted and the main dirt will have disappeared.
You can then move on to gentle cleansing. For small stains, use shaving foam which will remove all surface stains quickly and effectively. Apply the shaving foam directly to the stain and leave for about an hour. Rub with a damp sponge and wipe with a dry cloth.
Thoroughly clean a fabric sofa
To clean a fabric sofa and remove the most stubborn stains, three products are effective:
– White vinegar
– Ammonia
– Baking soda
White vinegar first will be effective on all stains. Mix in a container 500 ml of white vinegar, 200 ml of lukewarm water and a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Take a sponge that you have wrung out well before rubbing the sofa. Rinse with a cloth dampened with clear water, then dry with a clean, dry cloth.
Before handling ammonia, which is relatively harmful, be sure to wear protective gloves or even a mask. Pour a few drops of ammonia into a bowl of lukewarm water and add washing-up liquid to get a foolproof mixture against all stains. Then, using the same principle, place the sponge in the solution wringing it out well before cleaning the sofa.
For the most adept of dry cleaning, use baking soda: sprinkle the product directly over the entire surface of the fabric. After letting it act for about an hour, vacuum it gently. This action will both revive the color and deodorize the sofa.
Thorough cleaning of your sofa will allow you to prolong its life, as well as revive its colors to give it a new look: it is the perfect way to not get tired of it!
