How to clean and maintain armchair: the right cleaners and home remedies for cleaning upholstery chairs
The basic rule is: use cleaning agents in small quantities – for the sake of yourself and the environment. In addition, chemical cleaning agents are often more aggressive than self-mixed ones, which is why they should be used with caution. If you are bothered by the aggressive smell of purchased cleaners, you should definitely ventilate the room during and after cleaning.
Baking soda, salt, washing-up liquid or shaving foam for cleaning the armchair and sofa are particularly suitable from the household. We are going to explain which home remedies are best for which stains!
When cleaning your fabric dining chair, you can choose between ready-made cleaning products and homemade household products. The latter have the advantage that they are immediately to hand in the event of stains and are cheaper. But even if there are no stains on your armchair, it should be cleaned from time to time. Vacuum your chair regularly to remove dust. For deep clean upholstery, wash the removable cover as directed on the care label. For non-removable textile covers, on the other hand, a mixture of water and neutral soap or baking soda is recommended. After a few hours, remove the mixture by vacuuming and wiping with a damp cloth. A test run on a hidden spot shows whether this cleaning method is the right one for your chair.
With ice cream against chocolate and chewing gum
Chewing gum and chocolate stains are particularly stubborn. But do not panic: if you do not have ice spray to hand, cool the stain with an ice pack or a freezer bag with ice cubes. If the stain is iced, you can scrape it off carefully and remove residues with a toothbrush.
Remove blood stains from the chair
Put cool water on a cloth and gently rub the contaminated area. For removable covers, rinse the blood stain with water: this will dilute the blood and its intense color. Repeat this process until the blood stain is no longer visible.
