Avoid stains on linoleum
A lot of work can be saved if stains on the linoleum floor are avoided as far as possible. Although it is almost impossible to prevent something from falling on the floor. If it is well protected, many stains do not appear in the first place.
To do this, linoleum must be cleaned and waxed regularly. Floor wax seals the material and acts like a repellent layer. In addition, food residues or liquids should be wiped up immediately with a soft cloth before they can leave marks on the linoleum surface.
Home remedies for removing stains from linoleum
If stains on linoleum cannot be avoided, there are some home remedies that can be used to get rid of them. It goes without saying that not every stain is the same and not every agent is suitable for every type of stain. It is very easy to remove rubber marks from shoes. They can usually be removed with a dirt eraser or with a little benzine on a soft cloth. Ink from fountain and ballpoint pens can also leave behind stubborn stains. A treatment with white spirit also helps here, but petroleum is also said to bring good results.
Remove food stains from linoleum
Stains caused by food can usually be removed with washing-up liquid, vinegar or a mixture of baking soda and water. However, be careful when using it: all liquids should not act on the floor for too long, but must be wiped off quickly. It is better to repeat the treatment several times if the spots do not disappear for the first time.
Caution: No scouring agents or scratchy household sponges may be used. They cause scratches on the linoleum that are difficult to make invisible afterwards.
