How to clean a stain on the oilcloth? There are all kinds of oilcloth: pink, green, floral or striped. All these tablecloths give a touch of cheerfulness in the kitchen or living room. Apparently easy to maintain, most often, a sponge is enough to get rid of the dirty spot, but some stains on this tablecloth are not easy to remove. Fortunately, there are tips for removing stubborn stains.
Abrasive powders and sponges are not recommended on these tablecloths as they may scratch them.
Step-by-step guide on removing a stain from oilcloth
- Clean the oilcloth with a sponge soaked in soapy water.
- Or clean most stains by swiping a halved lemon over it.
- If this is not enough pass a cloth soaked in a mixture of 2/3 water and 1/3 hydrogen peroxide.
Ink and pen stains on oilcloth
Remove pen and ink stains with lemon, 90 percent alcohol or white vinegar.
Colored stains on the oilcloth
- No stain resists turpentine!
- Product to clean the oven. Spray the stains with an oven cleaner. Do not let this product act too long. Use a sponge almost immediately with hands protected by household gloves.
- White spirit. Clean stained spots with a cloth impregnated with mineral spirits. Then use a soapy sponge.

Clean with a cloth soaked in white vinegar.

Pass a cloth wet with glue diluted in a little hot water.
