- Scrape off as much slime as possible. Using your hands or tweezers, gently remove as much Slime as you can. Be careful not to damage the fabric.
- Use an ice cube to freeze Slime, making it easier to peel off.
- Never put slimy removable upholstery in the washing machine. The sticky spots may spread to other areas.
- Massage liquid detergent into the affected area. Put a small dab on the stain. Using your hands, rub the fabric together and work the detergent deep into the area.
- It does not matter what liquid detergent you use for this, whether it’s unscented or one with brighteners or bleach added. If you have sensitive skin, wear rubber or plastic gloves to protect your hands or choose a gentler means.
- Let the detergent sit for ten minutes. This will soften any remaining slime and allow the detergent to act on the stain. Do not leave the detergent on for more than ten minutes. It contains acids and enzymes that remove stains but can damage clothes if left on for too long.
- Clean the spot with the cloth soaked in hot water. The warmer the water, the better it can react with the soap and dissolve the slime.
- Put a little vinegar on Slime. White distilled vinegar from the pantry will do the trick. Use enough to completely saturate the area. The sooner you remove Slime, the better. Because the longer you let it dry and harden, the harder it will be to remove. If you don’t have vinegar, you can use rubbing alcohol. Tip: an ice cube can help loosen clumped Slime. Rub the ice over the area before using vinegar. It freezes the slime and hardens it, making it easier to remove.
- Scrub the vinegar into the slime with a scrubbing brush. Use firm pressure as you do this to allow the bristles to penetrate and break up the slime. The acidity of the vinegar dissolves Slime. You may need to add a little more vinegar depending on the severity of the Slime stain. For more stubborn stains, you can let the vinegar sit for 3 to 5 minutes before scrubbing. If you do not have a scrub brush, use an old toothbrush or rag.
- Rinse the fabric with warm water. Once you’ve thoroughly removed Slime, wash out the vinegar. Use your fingers to remove any Slimy residue while running water over the area. If you miss an area, repeat the process again and then rinse everything out. You don’t have to completely submerge upholstery. You can also fill a spray bottle with water or use a damp rag.
