Take advantage of the most effective watercolor-removing tricks from Professional Cleaners.
We are aware that our children are always playing with watercolors and most of the time they soil everything that is nearby, including sofa, chairs, carpets, etc. In this guide, you will see how to remove the watercolor stains and learn solutions to correct these inconveniences.
Prepare a solution with hot water
If you need to remove the watercolor stains from your furniture, carpet or tablecloth, it makes sense to prepare a solution with 1 liter of hot water, 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dish soap and 1 tablespoon of ammonia bleach will not dull our fabrics.
Soak the fabric in the solution and leave for about 30 minutes, then rub it gently with damp cloth, and the stain will be gone.
Try a solution of 1 liter of warm water and 1 tablespoon of vinegar
In case the first solution isn’t enough to make a stain disappear, you can opt for an alternative solution by diluting 1/4 warm water and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar in a bowl. Leave it on for up to an hour and do the final wash with warm water. Vinegar has many properties such as degreasing and polishing.
Dampen a cloth with ethyl alcohol
On the other hand, if a stain is on the upholstery or on curtains, and it is not possible to wash the laundry in the washing machine, we can use an alternative method. Simple and quick! Dampen a clean white cloth with simple and ordinary ethyl alcohol and gently rub the stain. This way the alcohol will bring a stain to the surface. Then soak with a clean paper towel to allow the watercolor to absorb into the paper. We repeat the same process so that the stain is completely removed, obviously changing the absorbent napkin from time to time.
Rinse the wooden surface with warm water and washing-up liquid
To remove fresh watercolor stains from a wooden surface, we need to make a solution using hot water and dish soap. We clean the affected area with a sponge, and then rinse with clean water and dry. On the other hand, if the stains are much older, we must arm ourselves with an old toothbrush and, after dipping it in baking soda, rub the surface well. In this way, we remove any residual color that has penetrated the fabric. We repeat the operation until the stain has completely disappeared.
