Removing a wine stain from carpet or fabric chair is a perilous task, but rest assured, it’s not impossible! A spilled glass – and the tasting goes wrong! There are many tips and techniques to try and test to find the ones that work best. Let us discover the most effective tips! Milk for a wine stain Removing wine stain with milk works perfectly. Pat the fresh stain with a dry cloth to remove excess wine. Then, soak the stained part in milk for at least an hour (milk turns pink). It is thanks to the milk proteins and their reaction with the wine that the stain disappears. If not, brush the fabric. Rinse and let dry. Flour and talc You should know that salt is not recommended on a red wine stain, since it tends to fix it. It is best to use talc or flour on a still wet stain. Sprinkle the place of the stain, once it has dried, brush and you get a clean tablecloth. Cornstarch in the absence of flour is also effective. Baking soda and white wine If you do get a red wine stain, white wine and baking soda will help to get rid of it. This method works on an already dry stain. Pour a little white wine, sprinkle with baking soda and leave to act for a few hours. Wash your fabric or your tablecloth, the stain will not leave a trace. Lemon and baking soda also give good results. Cleanser for oven If your stain is already dry and your fabric is white, oven cleaner will come to your rescue. Spray the product on the wine stain and brush. The effect is fast and the stain is gone. Cleansing milk Put cleansing milk on a cotton ball. Pat the red wine stain carefully, it should start to fade and gradually disappear. Then wash the fabric in cold water to remove the last traces. This method also works well with ammonia, but the substrate must tolerate it. Clean an old, dry wine stain The older the stain, the more difficult it will be to remove it, because the wine has become embedded in the fibers deep down. To clean a wine stain on a fabric that has been washed, the best solution is white wine and baking soda. You do as if for a recent stain. Clean a wine stain on other furniture:
  • Removing wine stains from marble
This is certainly the stain that poses the most problems. There is only one effective solution: soap and ammonia. Mix the two ingredients and rub. You will have to be patient for the stain to disappear completely. But this remains the only way to remove it while protecting your marble. Take your time so that the result is perfect!
  • On a couch:
On a fabric couch, you can adopt the methods described above. On the other hand, on a leather sofa, you will adopt a different technique. Use a solution of 70° alcohol and water. Ammonia is also effective.
  • On your shoes:
When a glass falls, the shoes are rarely spared. In this case, use make-up remover or milk instead. But if they’re leather, makeup remover is the only product that works. It is also possible to use ammonia, do a test beforehand in a place that cannot be seen.
  • On the ceiling:
A wine stain on a wall or ceiling is a less common scenario, but one that can happen. If the wall or ceiling is white, use the cleaner for four being careful not to damage the paint. Depending on the size of the stain, you can try makeup remover or ammonia.
  • On wooden furniture:
A wine stain on a piece of furniture can be scary, and yet you will see that it is not immutable and that it can be removed. There are even several solutions. Lemon juice is effective in removing wine stains from wood. If it is waxed, 70° alcohol and clay stone are recommended. This mixture does not attack the wax and still makes it easy to clean the stain.
  • On the carpet:
You had a party and the next day you find that your carpet is stained with wine. Three solutions are available to you depending on what you have at hand. Alcohol at 70°, ammonia or the mixture of lemon juice and baking soda. You can also pour sparkling water that you will let act. It also works well on carpet.
