Upholstery Cleaning tips will help you to deal with persistent coffee stains efficiently.
For many people, a cozy afternoon with friends or a good book also includes a delicious cup of coffee. It doesn’t matter whether it is cappuccino, latte macchiato or espresso, unless hot drink comes into contact with upholstered furniture, an unsightly stain quickly appears. In any case, coffee stains on upholstered furniture should be treated as quickly as possible, as a fresh stain is easier to remove. But even if the stain is not noticed until late, there are solutions to separate coffee and fibers from each other again.
Treat fresh coffee stains correctly
If coffee has just dripped onto the cushion, in many cases reaching for the mineral water bottle is sufficient. The carbon dioxide contained in it ensures that coffee is detached from the fibers and helps with rapid removal. However, before starting, excess coffee should be absorbed. This is particularly easy to do with an absorbent cloth that is pressed firmly onto the stain. Rubbing and scouring are strictly forbidden at this point, as they not only drive the stain deeper into the fabric, but may also enlarge it.
After the coffee stain has been wiped of excess liquid, the responsible person puts mineral water on it. It is crucial here that the padding is not saturated. Slightly wetting the dirt proves its worth and protects upholstered furniture from excessive moisture. The applied mineral water can be gently dabbed off after about a minute. In most cases, a large part of the stain has already come off in the first pass. If a shadow remains, wetting with mineral water and then dabbing can be repeated several times.
Remove dried coffee stains from upholstered furniture
Mineral water is often not enough to remove an old coffee stain from upholstered furniture. Since the coffee with all its components has long since dried, it must first be softened again. However, it is advisable to wet it with mineral water and allow it to take effect for a short time.
After dabbing the stain, these household remedies can be used, for example, carpet foam, gall soap, glass cleaner, alcohol. These are also recommended if a fresh coffee stain cannot be completely removed by treatment with mineral water.
